Not a day goes by when I don't miss something about Uganda...it hits me in weird ways, not always the same thing...

I miss these faces!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO full of joy in the middle of desperation that most people can never imagine...
I miss these huts where my life was changed...
I miss these tree where villages do community...
I miss these faces!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO full of joy in the middle of desperation that most people can never imagine...I haven't blogged much...ok, at all....about my experiences there. They are still a raw wound (in a good way) on my heart. I want to keep these memories just mine for a while...

There is nothing wrong with keeping them "yours" for a while. Sometimes it becomes so hard to put into words so that people can understand. How can you capture the smells and the feelings of a place? The overwhelming poverty but the incredible spirit. But I know what you mean... when we were back this summer, I was longing for our home here in China.
Often there is much that I long to tell, but choose not to (for so many reasons). So while I completely understand holding those experiences close, I look forward to hearing more about it. How it has changed and continues to shape you. :-)
I stumbled upon your blog about 4 or 5 months ago, and read your response to the book/Bible study "The Hole in our Gospel." It sounded like something I just had to get my hands on, and in fact, did get my hands on as a Christmas gift this year. At any rate, this book has been such a wake up call and has changed me in ways I cannot express. Thank you SO much for writing about it. I hope you will write more about your missions work abroad. Here is a link to my new blog; my first entry is about this wonderful book! www.devotionsfromthecrib.blogspot.com
